The challenge

Employees had started using public AI tools to draft, summarise and look things up. Sensitive data was leaking out, governance was uneven across departments, and the company had no single AI workspace it could stand behind.

The solution

APRÓ deployed Vitinn as a company-wide AI workspace with single sign-on through BYKO’s identity system, access by department and multi-factor authentication. Vitinn connects to BYKO’s product information system for live product data, stock and pricing, and to Relesys for procedures and training. Answers are grounded in BYKO’s internal documents, with personal data detected and filtered on every request. A single-tenant setup, central encryption and key management, and full activity logging keep governance with BYKO.

About the customer

Miðstöð menntunar og skólaþjónustu (MMS) is Iceland’s national Directorate of Education and School Services, supporting every kindergarten, primary and secondary school in the country.

The challenge

MMS needed AI for several distinct uses, staff knowledge search, school admissions analysis, learning material and student data, without sensitive data leaving an environment that meets public-sector requirements. Governance, data protection and strict separation of data between institutions were conditions at every level, and each setup had to stand up to audit.

The solution

Vitinn was deployed in MMS’s environment with single sign-on, role-based access, private connectivity, data-protection guardrails and full audit logging. Staff have two agents: a general agent for drafting, summarising and translating, and a specialised agent that answers only from MMS’s verified material and always cites its source. APRÓ also built an agent on top of the admissions database, so schools can query their own application data in plain language, with data separated between schools. APRÓ also built an AI reader that makes books and learning material interactive for students and teachers. No MMS data trains any model.

VÍS is one of Iceland’s leading insurance companies, regulated under financial-sector rules.

The challenge

Several departments had been trying public AI tools without coordination. Governance was fragmenting, security varied between teams, and licence costs grew without a clear view of usage. VÍS needed AI it could trust with its own data and put to real work, not another chat tool that stops at the security review.

The solution

Vitinn was deployed in VÍS’s own AWS environment in the EU, with private connectivity to internal systems. Sign-in, access and logging run through central identity, encryption and key management. A single AI gateway routes requests across models, giving cost visibility without tying the work to one vendor. On top of that, APRÓ built an agent that receives claim documents from Salesforce, reads and analyses them inside VÍS’s environment, and returns the results to claims handlers in the case system. The agent authenticates on every call, isolates each session and writes nothing outside VÍS’s environment.
